The Best Time of Year to Get Married in Texas

Every season in Texas can make a beautiful wedding. They just require different plans.
Here is what each one actually gives you, and what to plan around.
Spring: March through May
What you get. Green landscape, wildflowers, comfortable afternoons and long evening light.
What to plan around. Spring is the most requested wedding season in Texas, so dates book earliest and pricing is at its highest. Storms are also most likely in spring — a real indoor backup plan is non-negotiable.
Best for. Outdoor ceremonies where you want the property at its greenest.
Summer: June through August
What you get. The widest date availability, more flexible pricing, and the longest evenings of the year.
What to plan around. Heat. Summer weddings work when the timeline respects it — later ceremony, shade and water for guests, cocktails under cover, reception after dark.
Best for. Couples who want a sunset ceremony and an outdoor night reception, and who are willing to plan seriously for guest comfort.
Fall: September through November
What you get. The best overall weather of the year in most of Texas. Warm days, cool evenings, excellent light.
What to plan around. Competition. Fall books as fast as spring, especially Saturdays. Football weekends matter in the Bryan–College Station area — check the schedule before you set a date, for lodging reasons if nothing else.
Best for. Almost everything. If you can get a fall date, take it.
Winter: December through February
What you get. The most availability, the most negotiating room, and dramatic early sunsets that make evening receptions feel intimate.
What to plan around. Cold snaps and early darkness. Plan the ceremony indoors or with heating, and build the timeline around a sunset that arrives well before dinner.
Best for. Couples prioritizing budget, and anyone who wants a candlelit indoor reception.
Day of the Week Matters as Much as Season
A Friday or Sunday in fall often costs less than a Saturday in summer. If your budget is tight but your season preference is strong, move the day before you move the month.
How to Choose
1. Pick your season based on the ceremony you want, indoors or out. 2. Check availability and pricing for Friday, Saturday and Sunday in that season. 3. Confirm the weather backup plan for that specific date. 4. Consider travel — guests driving from Houston or Waco will appreciate a date that is not a holiday weekend.
