Should You Choose a Wedding Venue With Lodging?
On-site lodging changes getting ready, guest travel and the end of the night. When it is worth it, what it usually costs and the questions to ask before assuming it is included.

Lodging is one of the few venue features that changes three separate parts of your wedding: the morning, the night, and everybody's travel in between.
Who it helps most
The wedding party
Getting ready on site removes an entire morning of driving, parking and hauling garment bags. Everyone wakes up where the wedding is.
Family
Parents and grandparents get a place to rest between the ceremony and the reception instead of sitting through the whole day.
Out-of-town guests
If a meaningful share of your guest list is traveling, on-site or nearby lodging gives them somewhere to land that is not a highway exit.
Transportation
Every guest staying on site is one fewer shuttle seat, one fewer rideshare and one fewer late-night drive. If your venue is outside town, this is often the difference between budgeting for transportation and not.
Late-night driving
This is the honest reason many couples choose lodging. Weddings serve alcohol, receptions end late, and rural highways are dark. Somewhere to sleep on the property is a safety decision as much as a convenience one.
Getting ready
Look at the space itself, not just the bed count. Mirrors, natural light, outlets, room for hair and makeup, somewhere to hang dresses and somewhere for photos.
Wedding weekend logistics
Lodging and multi-day rentals go together. If you have the venue Friday through Sunday, staying on site means setup, rehearsal, the wedding and cleanup happen without anyone commuting. See wedding day vs. wedding weekend.
What it costs
Lodging is usually a separate line item, not an inclusion. Ask:
- Is lodging included, an add-on, or booked through a third party?
- What nights are available?
- How many does it sleep, and in what configuration?
- Is there a minimum stay?
- When is it booked and paid for?
- What is the cancellation policy?
Do not assume it comes with the venue rental — at most venues, including ours, it does not.
Availability
On-site lodging is typically one house or a handful of rooms. It books alongside the date, so decide early whether you want it.
What we offer
At Reverie at Diamond D there is a 1,600-square-foot farmhouse a minute's drive from the venue: three bedrooms with queen beds, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, dining for eight and two sofas that convert to sleep up to four more. It is available Friday and Saturday and is rented separately from the venue.

- Is lodging included with a wedding venue rental?
- Usually not. At Reverie at Diamond D the three-bedroom farmhouse is available to book separately with a two-night minimum stay and is booked separately from the venue rental. Always ask whether lodging is included, add-on or third-party.
- How many people should the on-site lodging sleep?
- At minimum, whoever is getting ready on site the morning of. Everyone else can stay in town. The farmhouse here sleeps the wedding party comfortably with queen beds in all three bedrooms plus two convertible sofas.
